First let me preface this by saying that I first bought a Frigidaire refrigerator with most of the same features as this LG. I was working on replacing all of my appliances to stainless. I have a Bosch dishwasher, but my oven is Frigidaire so I thought I would try to at least match those appliance brands. After a couple of days, the Frigidaire had not produced any ice whatsoever. This was the first appliance I have EVER purchased without research. Had I done so, I would have seen the horrible reviews it received, mostly because of the ice maker. So two days later, it went back to the store.NOW to the LG. I spent HOURS online researching reviews on all refrigerators with the features I wanted after my Frigidaire fiasco. I narrowed my search to three. This LG, a Whirlpool, and a Samsung. This one won. The reviews are astounding on this product. There are very few appliances that receive 5-star ratings, but this one did over and over and over again.I told the sales associate of my new choice and he said I would not be sorry. He apologized for the Frigidaire and said that, even though Frigidaire is trying to move their production back to the U.S., the quality in refrigerators is still not there. He told me that he and his coworkers have been blown away by the positive reviews and quality of all LG appliances. According to him, they had never seen 5-star reviews on products as consistently as LG as well. I knew before I went to the store exactly what I wanted, so he said 'I want to show you something'. He turned his computer screen to me. It showed the number of service calls they made for mechanical problems over the last fiscal year on all LG products. The number was ZERO. He said this was not just refrigerators, but washers and dryers as well.The features I like most about this refrigerator, aside from the absolute beauty of the stainless steel, are the:~refrigerator size~ There is a lot of space on the shelves. On shelf is 'retractable', meaning that half of it slides back in under itself so that you can place taller items in front of that shelf if need be.~freezer size~ The drawer is deep and divided, will hold a lot, and food is easily visible and accessible. The added pull-out top shelf holds an ice bucket for additional ice storage if necessary, as well as a good amount of room for more.~ice maker~ The ice maker is on the door rather taking up any space inside the refrigerator. The Frigidaire I had bought originally had the ice maker inside the refrigerator itself. I didn't realize how much space this actually consumed until I saw the LG. No wasted space here. It only took a few hours to make the first batch of ice. The manual says that it will make 70-210 ice cubes/day. That's plenty for our family of 5, but there's still the huge ice bin that is located in the freezer. I keep some on hand for guests and spur-of-the-moment large gatherings.~compartments~ The door compartments are great for holding milk, 2 liters, and other most frequently used items. There are two large storage bins for fruits and vegetables. There is a large, refrigerator width drawer that holds deli-meats, sandwiches, meats to cook etc. This drawer keeps foods at a different temperature for safety.~quiet~ Unlike another reviewer's experience, this unit is extremely quiet. Mine is virtually noiseless.I just can't say enough about this refrigerator. I did pay an extra $145 for an extended warranty, but based on what I've been told and shown, I should never need it.There was nothing wrong with our other refrigerator that we've had for 15 years or so, other than it was white. As I previously mentioned we were slowly replacing our kitchen appliances for stainless steel and this was our last one needed. We were in the home improvement store to get a new water heater when I made my first impulse buy without any research whatsoever. Why I would do that on something as big as a refrigerator I will never know. BUT it all worked itself out. I learned a big lesson and I ended up with a first-rate refrigerator. Lots of storage, Very quite-much quieter than our other french door fridge, ice maker in door frees up more shelf space, fast ice dispenser.Good price.White glove delivery was very nice.

This fridge is awesome. The shippers worked with us to get it to our house at a time that worked for us, and it has been awesome since getting it into our house. I would recommend this fridge to anybody.

Other reviewers have detailed the features so I'll stick to what made me select this model to buy. I originally wanted a Samsung but virtually all their comparable models were several inches deeper for the same cubic feet of storage and would have stuck out into the room too far. This LG has a smaller footprint than those and larger capacity so I could barely believe the dimensions provided were true. Now that this gorgeous monolith is gracing my frig space, it takes up no more footprint than my 14-year-old Maytag wide-by-side that I loved. I was amazed that I was able to get true LED lighting, an in-door icemaker, 'folding' glass shelves and a very quiet compressor for the price I paid. It is a discontinued model now so purchase it while you can.
