1 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing

Although the refrigerator is fine the ice maker is an absolute nightmare. It cannot keep up with even minor demand. It jams constantly requiring a removal and ice flys all over the floor. It crushes even though it is not on that setting. Frost builds up inside the icemaker. Also the front panel can easily be set incorrectly if you lean on it. It has shut down completely several times and required getting the manual out to turn back on. I would not recommend this and I will never buy another Samsung appliance.

This is by FAR the worst fridge we have ever owned. We bought this fridge 18 months ago and it wakes us up at night with loud bangs and pops. The "motherboard" has been replaced once already and it is on order again for replacement all in less than a month. What a joke! Parts for this unit can take up to 3 weeks to get to the U.S.

2 out of 5 stars Good on all counts except ice maker, which is basicly useless

Ice maker never duped ice more than once every 4 hours. After 13 months started making a loud clicking noise like gears stripping before dumping ice, then about a week later stopped dumping ice altogether. Ice maker replaced for $400 and back to making 50 cubes of ice every 24 hours. Tech said he can replace the circuit boards for another $300 and MAYBE fix it. At this rate in two years the repair cost will exceed the cost of the refrigerator.

Do not Buy this!!! its looks good but after a year or so it will start to stop cooling because of fan problems or mother board problems. Unless you are good fixing things by yourself and knows how to diagnose refrigerators mixed with computer parts do not go there. I already spend about $500 because the fridge fan wasn't working 3 times in one year. The design is beautiful but the electric parts the used to build it lack the quality and durability you will expect from this Company. I will never buy a Samsung refrigerator in my life and I will not recommended to anyone.

Purchased this unit in July 2011 and had to return it because there was something wrong with the control panel and it would not allow me to select either cube or crushed ice unless I pressed hard along the top edge of the button. Then it would dispense the ice in a rather slow manner with a lot of very loud clunking noises (my old GE unit made comparatively little noise when dispensing ice, and dispensed it far more quickly). The seller ordered a new unit and replaced it the following week. The front panel worked fine on the second unit, but the unit would not dispense the ice at all! Returned for a full refund. As it is quite a hassle to keep changing refrigerators, we could not take a risk on another Samsung.I thought that the unit could use more lighting at the front because when the unit is full of food items, a bit too much light gets blocked. We found also that you will need to double-check that the freezer door is fully shut because it sometimes appears that it is shut but really isn't. That happened to us twice and the second time it was very slightly ajar for a couple of hours and condensation built up inside and then froze rather thickly all over the glass shelves and walls of the freezer.Samsung has made a very stylish-looking unit and for the most part it works well, but it does appear that they have some things to learn about manufacturing refrigerators.

Our side-by-side Samsung refrigerator, model RS265TDRS, was purchased in December 2010, so it's about 3.5 years old. About a month ago it got noticeably noisier. The noise sounded like a generator -- so loud, I was afraid something was breaking in there. We moved the food into another refrigerator and freezer, unplugged this unit, and made arrangements with Samsung for a service call. (That itself was an adventure: Samsung rep never responded to email; the phone number in the refrigerator manual was for service on Samsung cell phones; the web form didn't work under several different browsers. I finally used live chat and had the chat rep fill out the service request form for me.)Two weeks later, I plugged in the unit in preparation for the service tech's visit. No noise. The service tech called, and after discussion suggested we cancel the service call, because (a) with no noise, he can't really diagnose a problem; (b) chances are it was just ice buildup and may never happen again; (c) removing the panel to get at the fan means removing all tech, because everything is attached to the panel, and that means replacing the panel because you can't just put it back on after it's been taken off; and (d) something like his labor and the panel wouldn't be covered by warranty anyway after 3.5 years. These are EXPENSIVE refrigerators. I think it's ridiculous that I should have to unplug my refrigerator every now and then to make sure ice doesn't build up, and it's ridiculous that this problem wouldn't be covered under a warranty. If you have already purchased this refrigerator, watch out for this fan-sounds-like-a-generator problem. Don't bother with a service call; unplug it for a while and see if that helps. If you have not bought this refrigerator, don't. It's a beautiful refrigerator and has some things going for it, but there's no way something this expensive should experience this kind of problem in three-and-a-half years. And getting support out of Samsung is a challenge at best. Read more ›

Bought this based off of cr rating. Fan consistently runs loud and as mentioned worst ice maker ever designed need to defrost ice holder once a month and have freezer be colder than recommended to avoid cubes becoming crushed. Nothing appears to stop the velocity however...
