Let me start off by saying I give every manufacturer a chance to correct a mistake I don't expect everything to be perfect and issues can occur. However with that said Samsung should stick to making Phones and other consumer electronics.I bought all new appliances for my house at the end of March 2013. This Samsung refrigerator and a Washer and Dryer. The refrigerator has been decent except for the amount of noise the compressor makes which is due to a variable speed compressor according to two different appliance repair places, scratches in the ice maker area, and water filter replacement. The first appliance repair guy allowed one of the tubes that goes to the compressor to continue to push against the back of the units cover making a terrible vibrating noise. It seems the "authorized" appliance repairmen are hit and miss, some know what they are doing and others do not. the Customer Care line at Samsung would like you to think they care but they do not. My refrigerator arrived with scratches in the ice maker area and a dent in the door. The place that sold me the appliances said they would take care of it, otherwise I would have refused it in this condition. They ordered two different doors the first one was put on and has 3 deep gouges in the ice maker area. The tech told me this is normal and that it would get scratched up anyways. This was a BRAND NEW refrigerator I just paid over 2,500 for this is unacceptable. The second door came in and was even worse it looked like someone had taken a scotch brite pad to it. The tech stated again this is normal he then proceeded to take my cell phone go outside of my house and talk behind my back to the place that sold it to me "Page Appliance" and told them it was a customer issue and that he was losing money. When I asked him why he had gone outside of my house with my cell phone he tried to lie but I called him out on it saying if he didn't have anything to say about me then why would he have to go outside he then basically owned up to it and said it was considered a "customer issue" meaning I was being fussy and unrealistic. I asked him if he would accept a new car with scratches on it he then said no but that many cars come that way and they can be touched up he then went on to tell me that many of the appliance retailers have full time touch up guys in house to repair dents, dings, scratches and missing paint on BRAND NEW APPLIANCES!I have found their is a very limited number of repair shops that are authorized to work on Samsung appliances and some of them that are authorized cannot even do simple troubleshooting or know how to enter the diagnostic modes on the Samsung appliances.Calling Samsung customer care gave little results. They fought with me about sending a new door and finally agreed to do so (this was the second door) which they said they would pull and personally inspect (they must have been asleep) because it looked like a scotch brite pad attacked the door. When the door is shipped it is wrapped in plastic all across the front except for the ice maker area which is black plastic. They do not cover the ice maker area with any protective film. This area scratches extremely easy. Since March the paddle to my ice maker is riddled with scratches and scuffs from normal use, I do not jam glasses under there nor have I been rough with it in any way. Samsung refused to send any more doors for the refrigerator. The second door was never put on the fridge and the appliance repair guy left it in my kitchen and said I could put it out on the curb and scrappers would take it (THIS IS A BRAND NEW DOOR!). The place where I bought the appliance could only offer me the door to their floor model. At this point I threw in the towel over the frustration and time wasted dealing with this issue. I also did not want a floor model that had a door that had been opened and closed multiple times a day for viewing and kids hanging off the handles. Samsung stated it was not a warranty issue so they refused to do anything more even though they previously sent out a door. The technician that came to the house reported to Samsung that I was basically a difficult customer and downplayed the condition of the doors. I reported him to Samsung's department that authorizes technicians because he was clearly incompetent and rude. They never got back to me and nothing ever happened with it. This same technician also worked on my SAMSUNG washing machine that was squeaking terribly and never noticed all the legs were not turned all the way up into the machine when it was seated on its pedestal. More on that on a review of the Washer which I will write separately.Samsung's support and finding something as simple as a Water Filter is an absolute joke as well.I needed to replace my water filter so I started out by reading the manual that came with the Refrigerator. Most manufacturers put the water filter replacement part numbers in their manuals, Samsung however does not. I then went to the Samsung support website to inquire about my filter. It lists no specific information on the website for the water filter. it then refers you to another website setup to look like it is part of Samsung. When putting in my model number on the website it comes up with a water filter that says it has been discontinued. I then decided to click the link that says live support to initiate a chat session. The individual told me the correct filter was located here http://www. samsungparts. com/PartsList.aspx?Catalog=Parts_and_Accessories&PartSearch=DA29-00020B which is the DA29-00020B it does not list my model as a "supported" model at the bottom of the page when I brought this to the persons attention they (Marcia)immediately closed the chat session (very unprofessional). I then called 1-800-SAMSUNG who then referred me to another 800 number which is 1-800-627-4368 which is J&J international which is an authorized parts dealer for Samsung. According to them Samsung does not sell parts directly to the consumer. They want double what the filter costs here on Amazon.Needless to say I will NEVER buy SAMSUNG again. Incompetent rude technicians, a rude subcontracted parts department with inaccurate information on its website. Samsung's lack of putting something as simple as a water filter replacement number in the manual (you'd think since they want you to use ONLY their filters they would advertise them more in their own manual). Along with the fact many places selling the appliances now have little to no experience with Samsung so the delivery and setup guys don't have a clue how to properly set it up.I will be writing a separate review for my Washer from Samsung which has been nothing short of an Epic failure. and include a link to it here in the near future. And to top it all off you cannot buy the DA29-00020B water filter at your local LOWES only Home Depot carries it.
