4 out of 5 stars Not as bad as I thought

First, I did not buy this fridge through Amazon. I thought about it, but the reviews were so terrible that I decided not to get one. My wife had other plans though, hehe. After looking at the reviews of other refrigerators I could pretty much see that no one loves their new fridge, at least not by the reviews they are leaving. I have a 15 year old double door fridge/freezer. After all this time, and we still have had relatively few problems with it. I wasn't really wanting to give it up, but my wife informed me that its looks are a little outdated and time for a new one.So, seeing the terrible reviews for this fridge, and pretty much all the rest, I decided I wasn't going to pay retail value for it, or anything close. I found it as a dent/scratch item at Lowes for about half price. It has broken on it every problem I have ever seen described by reviewers. The fridge ceiling above the fridge lights was actually partly melted and cracked from the bulbs being too hot. One handle had been broken off. They were wires ripped out of the ice maker. Most of this I had Lowes fix as part of the deal. I had to seal the cracks in the ceiling with silicone. I then replaced the 40 watt bulbs, ridiculously hot, with 20 watt bulbs which provides reasonably sufficient light, and no more problems with the ceilling.I made my wife keep our old fridge, being convinced after owning this thing for several months it would break and my wife would regret purchasing it and either return it to Lowes or sell it. Well, it hasn't happened. Nothing else has broken on it since we've had it replaced, now some 3 months ago.I will say it makes some odd noises and is not super quiet. In fact, sometimes it sounds possessed hehe. But, it doesn't really annoy me, and it is too far from the bedrooms to cause any disturbance to sleep. The fridge is huge compared to our old fridge and sticks out beyond the counters a good 6 inches, which looks kinda odd, but wow the space is nice. We were thinking of getting a second fridge for the garage. Won't need that now.One reviewer noted the ice make not only breaks a lot, but both (it has two) are super slow. Maybe I'm used to our old ice maker, but with our family of 4 it has no problem keeping up and the extra ice in the bottom is handy for summer activities. So, so far I'm suprisingly ok with this fridge. If I change my mind in a year or so, I'll be back with an update. Read more ›

3 out of 5 stars Noisy but it works

If you don't mind the constant fan noise this is a very nice fridge. I returned mine because the noise was bothersome. The fan runs almost constantly over the ice cubes to keep them cold. The ice maker is in the refrigerator compartment not the freezer so it requires the cold air blowing across the cubes to prevent them from thawing. My floor space is an open concept so the kitchen opens up onto the living room and the noise was just too much. The fridge itself is very nice. Roomy, well-lit, loads of options for placing things in doors, shelves or bins. One of the shelves slides under another which is convenient for storing tall items. The water dispenser and ice cube dispenser on the door worked perfectly. The water was chilled...bland tasting...but cool. Yes, this is a good fridge and if my kitchen were isolated from my living area I'd rate this a 5 star.

4 out of 5 stars Fridge works great and was a great price

Delivered on time. Fridge works great and was a great price. Only thing that is bad about it is. Refrigerator is delivered by Freight company that leaves the fridge in the garage or on the sidewalk outside home. So you have to find a way to get it from there to where you need it.

1 out of 5 stars Beware Frigidaire Galllery Refrigerator
Mewnhb

Purchased Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator in October of 2011. Ice maker and bottom freezer shelves needed to be replaced with months. The noise of this machine is unbelievable and it runs 95% of the day. We call it the "jet". Unfortunately my once quiet Gallery dishwasher is now competing with the fridge. The worse part of the appliance is the lack of customer service with Frigidaire. When you call them it becomes an immediate pitch for an extended warranty. I am convinced they made their appliances not to last a year or in my case several months. So we are now saving our $270 (warranty for fridge only) to put towards a new refrigerator of a different brand. BTW we also will be replacing the dishwasher & microwave as well. They were pretty however practical use of product was ugly.

1 out of 5 stars Frigidaire does not back up their products. Don't waste your time and money.

I have a Frigidaire refrigerator, it is only two years old with a bad control panel. After looking it up on the Internet, I found out that it is a common problem. I called Frigidaire's customer support for assistance, they told me they couldn't help me because it was out of its one-year warranty, but they were "nice" enough to give me phone numbers to license repairmen. After informing them that many consumers have complain about this on the Internet and that my previous refrigerator lasted almost 20 years but cost much less, they continue to refuse responsibility. I am really disappointed and will never purchase another product by this company.
