If you are buying it for the SodaStream, don't.B. Judd
We purchased this fridge last year, May of 2013, and from the get go, the sparkling water dispenser was a disappointment. It is advertised to be the same carbonation level as Perrier. That would be true if we were talking about a Perrier that had been open for 8 hours, while sitting in the sun. This is the way it works. In the door, there is a mechanism that fills a bladder with one liter of water, then it injects the CO2 into the bladder. For some reason this process takes about 15 minutes. Then someone comes by and fills a glass with, lets say .85 liters of water. Then you go by with your glass, end up with a 1/2 cup of semi-bubbled water, the machine goes "FFFSSSSSHHHHHHH", empty. Fast-forward 15 minutes, again not sure why, and you are set up to be disappointed a second time.That isn't the worst part. We noticed after about 2.5 months, that the mech wasn't expelling a full liter anymore. Maybe 3/4 of a liter... Then 1/2 liter... Then 1/4 liter... Finally after about 3.5 months it would just spit at you and "FFFSSSSSHHHHHHH".We requested a repair order in DEC of 2013 and our repair man was very nice. After messing with it and talking to tech support for about 30 minutes, he finally just ordered a replacement unit for inside the door. That worked great for a while, we had the same mediocre level of bubbles a liter at a time. Until it went to 3/4 of a liter... then a 1/2... then a 1/4...then "FFFSSSSSHHHHHHH". Nothing.We have since purchased a counter top SodaStream. We are out of warranty now and are being told that the parts, even though this is a sealed unit, have no warranty of their own. Bad business, Samsung.The only other real (first-world) problem is the ice dispenser. If you select crushed ice, you get nicely crushed ice. If you select cubed ice, you get poorly crushed ice and a few cubes. And the ice capacity is terrible. If you have more that 2 people in the house that enjoy a frosty beverage, buy a bag of ice.The rest of the fridge is fine, plenty of storage, the Flex-zone drawer is nice. The lighting is fantastic, it would be a magical puppet show theater.All in all, buy a model that has all the features except the SodaStream. You can get a great fridge and a countertop SodaStream for much less than this thing will set you back, especially if you assign a cash value to frustration and the number of times you hear "FFFSSSSSHHHHHHH". Best Bang for the buckSmart guy
I spent a lot of time looking over different refrigerators before choosing this one. I got free shipping, was able to add to my amazon card for extra points back. If you worry about buying large items like this from Amazon, don't. I only had a problem with the shipper. With every large items I have delivered I like to get a call BEFORE the people show up to my house with the item. I called Amazon, and the shipper directly after my purchase, and again a few days later to request that the HAVE to call me before showing up.Amazon said: No problem.The shipper said: No problemGuess what? I didn't get a single call about delivery at all.I was home when they showed up, but due to having this happen to me in the past, I rejected the delivery and told the guys I required at least 1 hour notice before delivery. I told them I called both amazon, and their shipping office twice requesting this. They just couldn't understand why I would reject the shipment while I was at home. I tried to explain obviously foreign concepts like common courtesy, and doing what you say you are going to do, but they were lost. So, I made them go back to their truck and call me with the notice I requested, wait 1 hour, and then I accepted the delivery.This is the THIRD time this has happened when ordering large items from Amazon, so if you are really picky about delivery times, and getting a courtesy call before delivery, expect problems.Otherwise, on to the fridge itself.PROS - Large. Lots of space, and you can adjust shelves so that anything will fit. Putting milk sized cartons in the door doesn't work well (you have to angle it just right to get them in and out), but the large shelf at the top allows you to put 3 cartons in a row on it, if you lift up the hinged shelf on the top.PRO: Larger ice maker than similar refrigerators. I don't like the "door only" ice machine with the machine built in to the door. This gets you about 4 cups of ice before you are out. This machine gives you are larger Ice bin, and more door space since the bin is in the fridge and not the door. These types of ice makers also have less mechanical issues.PRO: Mechanically sound. All buttons work well, and are responsive. Lighting inside and outside of the fridge is good.CON: Handles can break off. I assume these will only break if a lot of force is put on them. So, most people wont have to worry about this. Just don't ever try to move this fridge by the handles or they will break off. Im sure they mention this in the directions somewhere.CON: the reason this got 4 stars, and not 5 stars. It is louder than my older fridge. You will hear the fan on this fridge if you are close to it. (20-30ft) It is not a bad fan, this fridge is just loud-er when it is cooling. Its enough to annoy me, but not totally turn me off from this fridge.CON: Ice can take a bit longer than I want for it to come out of the dispenser. You have to hold the Ice switch down for a good 3-4 seconds before the motor turns to spit out ice. The ice comes out a bit slower than I prefer. I guess this is good if you have kids that are just learning how to get Ice and Water on their own, as it can help avoid Ice all over the floor. To me this delay is an annoyance. When I push the ice button, I expect immediate gratification and ice in my cup. Not to wait 3 seconds before the motor kicks on, and then another 2 seconds for the ice to start coming out. This isn't major, but some people like instant ice. I am one of them.All I can think of.Other than that, this is a sound fridge for the price range. Read more ›

I had read other reports associated with poor delivery and was a little nervous....although my delivery was not in the original assigned window, i found the shipping staff helpful in putting me in touch with the driver who provided a delivery day and time. He arrived within 5 miinutes of the time i was quoted. What people need to keep in mind when they are provided their delivery window is that the driver leaves the warehouse with many deliveries to be made over a period of days. A number of challenges can be presented to the driver over that period of time which may delay your delivery....be patient.Overall very pleased with the service provided
