5 out of 5 stars Best refrigerator I've ever used

The few who have a bad experience are usually the ones who write a review, so I thought I'd write one. This door-in-door fridge is the same basic design as the LG LFX31935ST, the only fridge to receive Reviewed.com's "best of year" award twice in a row: [...] (Note: reviewed.com cannot review reliability). The differences are that this unit does not have the "blast chiller" (boo) but does have the "door-in-door" feature.I really like the door-in-door. It is large enough to give quick access to three 1/2 gallon juice/milk containers, two full-gallon milk containers, 3 cans of soda/beer (strangely, the shelf labeled for cans is almost wide enough for 4 cans, but not quite. It looks like they could have easily widened it a little to fit 4 cans). The fridge is quiet, looks good, and seems to be very well organized. The shelving is a little "plasticky", though some bins have stainless steel impact guards. When I was looking at similar refrigerators, none have higher quality shelving except for the top-end $4,000 GE model (which as I said before is from the lowest-rated brand) and Sub-Zero, which charges up to $16,000 for their top-end fridges.Let's think about some common complaints I've read:1) Ice maker doesn't make much ice:No. My installer recommended dumping the first few batches of ice, so I did. I filled my largest glass 7 1/3 times. If that isn't enough for you, you should get a refrigerator with dual ice makers like the LFX29927ST.2) Ice maker clogs.I haven't seen a clog, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. All ice makers clog if you don't use the ice regularly because the individual cubes start to form one large block.Read more ›

1 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS!!

This is a super-sweet tricked-out fridge. Love the door in door feature. We bought it and had it installed March 15, 2013. Six weeks later, May 3rd, the freezer stopped working. It took a while for an LG certified service guy to be found for our area so a few days later someone came out and spent no less than 3 hours working on it. He didn't have the part he needed by the end of that, so ordered it and scheduled a return visit for two weeks later, after the part would have arrived. Mid-may, he returns and works for another 4 hours. LG tech support tried to help, but in the end, that didn't work either and ANOTHER part was ordered and another visit scheduled for two weeks out. Last Saturday, June 8, 2013, he came out again, and was here working on the problem for at least 3 hours (seriously, by now we're going to start exchanging Christmas cards with this guy!) and declared it unable to be repaired, possible recall. We went back to the store we bought it from and was able to easily order a new fridge, different brand. But so far, it's been five weeks with no freezer. Our new freezer won't be delivered for a few weeks so we're just hanging out for a few months with no freezer but get this, NOW the REFRIGERATOR stopped working! So hopefully we can get a loaner fridge while we wait for our new one. This is ridiculous. The cool door in door feature is NOT WORTH IT.Also, I have been attempting to post this review on the LG product review page on their site but it continues to be rejected. I've reworded, shortened, put in the positive things about it, but I think LG only posts positive reviews, so be careful about that.

First And Foremost, I am replacing a 20 year old refrigerator and so would have been a winner with any refrigerator. Having said that, What did I like in this refrigerator ? .WHAT I LIKED:This refrigerator is impressive in the first look. Open the refrigerator to see the bright lit LED's that makes food visually appealing. The space is deep ,yet you can spot the food at the deepest end with no issues . Freezer space is enormous, several trays, slots etc makes it fit every type of food , shape and size. The Door In the door is a cool feature where many of the grocery shop items like ketchup, coke fits in, leaving the core inside area for cooked items, left over food etc and still leaving lots of empty space. I hardly use water dispenser or ice cubes and so have no comments about it. During installation there is a LG water filter cartridge that was installed, so you are going to get not only cold but clean water.WHAT ELSE YOU WILL NEED : Finger prints are clearly visible, so I have ordered Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish,12 oz for cleaning the marks off the fridge . Apparently mild soap water just works fine but I have not tried it.BUYING DECISION :Your friends will confuse you . Period. One said Frigidaire is the best, another one said God personally supervised making their GE refrigerator, Each of the 12 players in our Volleyball group suggested to buy the brand they have at their home. Finally I settled with an easy choice. Go with what ...Read more ›
