1 out of 5 stars Ice maker= garbage
Tom A

Bought this unit one month ago and the icemaker from the water/ice dispenser has never worked. Since it's under warranty they are coming back for the third time to replace it. Freezer compartment ice make works fine. Top one is garbage. Otherwise the unit seems fine.

4 out of 5 stars The latest Wave-Touch model review

THIS REVIEW IS ON THIS MODEL. DON'T GET CONFUSED BY REVIEWS ON THE PREVIOUS GENERATION OF WAVE-TOUCH REFRIGERATORS! THEY LOOK THE SAME ON THE OUTSIDE. NOTE THE DATES ON THE REVIEWS.We had the previous generation of this unit, model EW28BS71IS4, that had the bullet shaped ice. We loved the unit but we had about 4 or 5 service calls on the ice maker. It would make noise, drip water or not work at all. Just about everything in the ice maker was replaced. It would work for 6 months and fail again. The repair techs didn't like this ice maker. Eventually it got to the point where they couldn't get it to work and the refrigerator was replaced. We did get the BestBuy extended warranty with the first one and it paid off. Consumer Reports doesn't think much of extended warranties but with innovative new products at this price range, we thought it was a good idea.Even after being burnt once, we again chose the Electrolux Wave-Touch. There just isn't another refrigerator with these features. This new model (EW28BS85KS) has many features that our old one didn't. The main ice maker now makes small square base pyramid shaped ice cubes. There is a second ice maker in the freezer that makes crescent shaped ice and dumps them in a very large bin. The freezer has a drawer in it for ice cream that keeps the ice cream softer and servable. Both of these features in the freezer do take up freezer space but we have another standalone freezer so we don't need the space. The cube bin could be removed and ice maker shut off if you need the room more than the additional ice. We like the extra ice for a cooler for short trips or picnics or parties. The new refrigerator also has self closing drawers which are nice and match the self closing drawers in our kitchen. The features of the shelves and drawers in the refrigerator section are way past any other refrigerator we've looked at in this rather high price range. Just too much to list here. Go see for yourself and compare. It is hard not to give this 5 stars. I guess I'm still a little hesitant after being burnt once. We did get the extended warranty again. I may change my rating after a year or so. Read more ›

1 out of 5 stars Read the fine print before buying an Electrolux
Lynne R. Gregory

Read the fine print before buying anything from Electrolux. This reviewer purchased this model seven months ago and has to have at least 3 service calls for ice forming on the roof of the freezer section. The final service call finally seems to have corrected that problem but, noticed that a metal section on the underside of the refrigerator door has come detached or broken. In calling the customer service number I was informed that Electrolux only covers "cosmetic" issues for 60 days from date of purchase. Really??? The exterior of a 2200.00 plus appliance and after 2 months you don't cover it? I could have bought cheaper brands and gotten at least the same if not better service.
