Another Chinese POCP Desenex
I purchased it in July 2013. In Jan 2014 the motor and fan unit in the freezer compartment had to be replaced. In May 2014 they had to replace the defroster control unit. Two warranty calls in 10 months---on a REFRIGERATOR? Anybody out there that thinks they should even have to think about a new refrigerator for, what, 10 years? GE doesn't even offer extended warranties on the "appliances" they sell.The repair person said that consumers these days should not expect the same reliability that used to be the norm ie 20 years for a refrigerator. He said to maybe expect 5-7 years out of ANY new refrigerator, regardless of brand. Your best bet is to make sure you get the extended warranty as most of the units only offer a 1-year warranty and service calls average $200 or more so just factor in the warranty when you buy as you WILL be needing repairs. Please note this sorry state of affairs does not have to exist. Since the US companies have pretty much all colluded to make their junk products in Asia we are all stuck with them. Quality is a decision companies can make but no longer do.
