2 out of 5 stars Nice! But unacceptably noisy.

We Americans live life around the kitchen. So when the fridge makes a noticeable noise, it's worth considering another fridge. This fridge, bought 4 months ago, started loud and has gotten so much louder we now fasten seat belts, put tray tables upright and brace ourselves with a little prayer every time it cycles. It's handsome, shallow yet spacious and well divided. It meets almost all requirements for pampered living. But our family comes together after a long day only to be agitated by fridge noise to the point of hurling dinner plates.Don't by blinded by it's beauty, convenience and price. Save the cost of therapy and bypass this fridge.

Mad in Milford

We purchased this refrigerator in August of 2013. By December the fan was so noisy we had to call for service. Ice had formed completely around the fan so it had to be completely cleared. By February we were hearing the same noises once again, so called for service. While waiting for our appointment day, the freezer stopped cooling. This time the service fellow found that not only had ice formed around the fans again, but the entire defrost cycle was not working. IN addition, today as I am writing this, it has been 3 weeks that we have had to cope a malfunctioning fridge and no freezer unit. We've dealt with cancelled parts orders, last minute cancelled appointments by GE, and a lie about the time of day the rescheduled appointment was going to be. We have fully defrosted our refrigerator for today's final repair of the mother board and fans, only to find out at the last minute that the parts have been delayed for another 2 days minimum. I will not buy from GE again.

Its Noisy! Other than the loud noise, I love it. The compressor/fan runs 50 minutes per hour and is loud. Its a high pitched whirring sound that you can hear even in the upstairs bedrooms. The noise it makes is unacceptable. The appliance place we purchased it from even came out and installed a "noise reduction kit" especially made for this model of rerigerator and also replaced the circuit board. It may have helped a little but it is still loud. The appliance place is picking up Wednesday as I could not listen to it for 10 to 15 years! I can't believe in this day and age GE engineers can't make a quiet refrigerator? Google a GE Profile rerigerator and see how many noise complaints there are. I wish I had!
