Customer Reviews

1 out of 5 stars Worked great for about a week

TOTAL JUNK ! ! ! We have had to defrost it several times in the 2 years that we have owned it. Spoke with a factory rep at one point, she said that there is a passage that shares air between the fridge and freezer compartments that can plug up and then we get frost and cooling problems. Last event: due to frost in the freezer and 55 degrees in the fridge compartment, we defrosted. Worked great for about a week. Then it had 5 degrees in the freezer and 55 degrees in the fridge again. A conversation with Frigidaire rep (again referred to a non-toll free number) yielded the information that it could be either an "overload switch" or the compressor. The compressor was likely working because the freezer was normal. The bad news was that the "overload switch" is built into the compressor unit, so that is a $200 part, $69 service call and at least 3 hours at $90 per hour. All that for a $930 (@ Lowes) refrigerator and no guarantee that this would be a permanent solution to all the problems. Frigidaire was once a pillar of American industrial technology. Now it is owned by an off shore company and the refrigerators are built in Mexico. Customer service and standing the product appear to be words from another planet. We cut our losses and bought an LG unit.
