Amazon is great. Purchase products all the time from them. However my wife and I purchased a brand new KitchenAid refrigerator from Western Appliance in August 2008. From the moment we got it, we've had problems. First the inside light malfunctioned, then the digital readout. The repairman has been here 4 times to try to repair it and now that all the parts have been replaced still has no idea what's wrong with it. The ice machine quit working on the third service call, and we have no ice.I have made numerous phone calls to Western Appliance, spoken to Leo, the salesperson, and the manager. They just tell me to call the Repairman. This Saturday will be the fifth visit by another repairman from a different service. We get the runn around when we ask for a replacement from western Appliance, repair service center and KitchenAid. Even though we purchased an extended warranty. I even called KitchenAid myself and was told that even if we purchased the warranty, it does not cover lemons or replacements.Their service is atrocious at best, and now that they have made a sale, we are virtually ignored or fobbed off. Worst of it is, the repair company under their contract has no idea what they're doing. This is the worst service I've ever encountered from an appliance store or manufacture. DO NOT BUY ANY APPLIANCES FROM WESTERN APPLIANCE or KITCHENAID. You will regret it if it should ever malfunction. It is now Novenber 2008 and I have NO LIGHTS, NO DIGITAL READOUT, AND NO ICE from my brand new KitchenAid refrigerator, and am waiting for a "second Opinion" from another repair co, while being ignored by Western Appliance.Read more ›

We got our model from Sears (and delivered to our house). We paid extra for the 5 year warranty (although the fridge has a 1 year warranty on most items, a 10 year warranty on more important items - I think the condenser is one) and a lifetime warranty on the shelves). We got ours at the beginning of this month. Everything has been working great. My husband had to make the line for the ice maker since our old refrigerator didn't have that or water. It worked like a charm. I really like the fast ice and max cool options. There is plenty of room on both sides for food and the side door in the refrigeration part has gallon-size openings which works well. You can also adjust the height. I like the can holder there too. It makes it easy to access. The filter is on the bottom which allows more room in the unit. This is a nice model. With anything you buy there could be a lemon so make sure you get more than one opinion! My parents have a Kitchenaid as well. It's made in USA which was a reason for me to buy and I like the stainless front (we have a non-stainless cabinet so the sides aren't stainless - that is was MS means but we don't mind because we can use magnets on it).
OK in Oklahoma
We looked at many brands and loved the features on the Kitchen Aid. It has been zero problems from day one...Love the quick chill feature when you bring beverages home warm...Love it!

With only a year warranty, it's best to go extended if you can. It's been a fine refrigerator but now there's a brand new leak underneath the refrigerator. I had such a challenge buying it in the first place. Keep your receipts, whatever you do!
