1 out of 5 stars Keg Does Not Fit
Dad

The half barrel (normal size keg) will not fit in this fridge. It is supposed to fit. The regulator is too big and the gauge hits the evaporator coil and the adjustment screw hits the keg. Long term this will wear a hole in the evaporator and the fridge will no longer work. The manual shows a regulator with a single gauge. It ships with a larger two-gauge regulator. This is the problem. When I contacted DCS, they suggested I buy smaller kegs or drink different beer. Incredible. If you plan to buy a normal sized keg, get a different fridge. My Costco one works well at 1/5 the cost!

1 out of 5 stars this thing is JUNK
Polish Mama

Garbage - fail after 1 years use.Danby does not stand by their products. Bought this new in 2005. Used it 2 months out of the year, sat in normal storage the rest of each year. So that is a total of about 1-years worth of use. Condenser failed, or has an obvious sealed system leak somewhere. Nobody will even look at fixing it for less than $400. Danby warranty-support told me to not waste their time with anything older than 3 years. I will avoid Danby for now on.

1 out of 5 stars Do not buy a Danby Kegerator
Bridget

We have a Danby kegerator that is just 3 yrs old. It has spent more time being repaired than dispensing beer. Now PC board is shot and Danby no longer makes replacement parts for it. Repairman said it is junk. We wasted our money and we would discourage everyone from buying Danby kegerators.

2 out of 5 stars Noisy and low quality, but does keep food cold.
R. G. Burk

Purchased in 2011 for $410 (sale price including 15% discount for the item arriving dented, dinged, and scratched), this is a little less than what I would expect from a mid-range freezer. The compressor is really loud on tile floor. The appliance bulb goes out every 3 months (strange). It does the job and is in a room where noise is not a major issue. It's still working and we have had it going on 2 years now. I can't speak for the energy efficiency as I do not have the data to back it up.Looks like there is a Maytag model that HomeDepot now carries as they have discontinued selling this model.

D. Parker

Our local dealer no longer carries Marvel because of nightmares like ours:In 3 years with the 60RDE, we've had 3 repair actions: 2 control panel failures and a compressor failure. Fortunately, we had an extended warranty that covered it. Now, we've had a fourth failure and the extended warranty has expired (control panel + thermistor assembly) and Marvel will only sell a complete rebuilt kit (about $1000 incl. installation) and not just the parts we need.Rather than have the kit installed, we pulled the whole unit out and are replacing it with another brand. You've been warned. Don't buy this unit.

2 out of 5 stars Problems/issues with Liebherr CS1640 Bottom Mount
Karen J Granger

Bought our 30" CS1640 in July 2009 from an appliance dealer in Bellevue, WA, for the same amount advertised here on Amazon. We live in an unincorporated area 32 miles east of Seattle, Wa.Likes: The height, style, overall appearance and accessibility inside the refrigerator are really great.Dislikes: The refrigerator does not "cool" to the appliance temps that USA citizens are accustomed to. Everything stored in the refrigerator spoils in half the time that the problem occurs in US-manfuactured refrigerator/freezers. The ice maker produces minimal amounts of ice; has never filled the entire ice maker bin, as US oriented refrigerator/freezers do. In addition, 2 months ago, one week to the day after the 2-year warranty expired, the interior around the bottom freezer drawer began freezing up. At first, I didn't understand what was happening, then I discovered a full layer of thick ice build-up. That's when I contacted our dealer for a service call. That's when I learned that Liebherr controls all service calls from their service center in Scottsdale, Az. And that's when I experienced perhaps the poorest customer service I've ever had with an appliance, and I've been buying appliances for 40 years. Not only did the rep inform me (without benefit of a service call to analyze the issue)that my issue would not be covered by the warranty; she referred me to (3) service providers who are not licensed and bonded as businesses in the State of Washington. When I called back to get more providers, I was told they could not help me! And I bought this refrigerator because of Liebherr's commitment to the environment, promise of excellent service, etc.Bottom Line: Had I known then what I know now, I would not have made an investment in this product.

4 out of 5 stars Very pleased with this spacious, beautiful fridge
Shelley Gammon

About a month after I got married last year, our hideous, harvest gold, dilapidated refrigerator graciously went off to be with the Lord. We couldn't really afford a replacement, but I was secretly doing backflips that we could get something nice, spacious and not so hideous. While saving up funds to buy a new fridge and living out of a mini dorm fridge for 3 months, we researched various models. We definitely wanted the stainless steel variety and wanted a bottom drawer freezer... and this LG did not disappoint. The drawer slides open and closed easily with just one hand and tends to hold quite a bit of weight with the stuff we cram in there. The side door is generously spaced to accommodate 2 liter bottles, salad dressing or just about anything else. Our frozen stuff stays frozen and the cold stuff stays cold.My criticisms are few, but I do have some:Frost/ice accumulates on the left side of the drawer occasionally, so sometimes some drops off on the floor. The left door swings closed on its own - you can easily prop open the right door to load in something big and heavy, but the left door will not stay open for you.The shelf adjustment is not very elegant - you have to take the shelves out and stick them back in at a higher tier. Some competing models had a hand crank which was easier to use.The top of the vegetable compartments is covered with 1 giant piece of glass. It is hard to get out and very awkward to clean in a sink if something spills. This would have made a lot more sense if it were segmented into 2 or 3 sections for easier handling. While I know it's par for the course with stainless appliances, it's very irritating to not be able to use magnets to hold something important on the front of the fridge. It's steel, not aluminum. It makes no sense. One day, I'd like it if some manufacturer would come out w/ a stainless model that was upgraded to use magnets! The ice-maker is a tad tiny, so it gets jammed with ice frequently, causing us to take the basket out and fiddle w/ the ice to get it to move down the chute. The digital panel for selecting crushed or cubed ice is too complex... you have to press buttons a few times to get it to 'take' - this could have been executed better. The lighting is the best I've ever seen in a fridge - no harsh bulb in your face - very easily-distributed light throughout. So far, it's one of the nicest refrigerators I've ever owned. Read more ›

3 out of 5 stars Mediocre
Scot Catherwood

We bought this refrigerator 18 months ago and I don't hate it. i don't exactly love it either, just your average unit that keeps stuff cold. Durability is lacking.Good points:1) The ice maker in the door allows for a larger freezer. This design feature was the deciding factor in our purchase.2) Freezer on the bottom is larger than most.3) Shelving is versatile (very configurable to your needs)Not so good points:1) All three trays in the door have cracked in the same place and appear nearing total failure. Poor materials used in a high usage area of the refrigerator. They are removable and replacable, so there's that.2) Ice maker holds small amounts of ice. Not horrible when it's just our family of 6, but parties require ice runs.3) I read another review about the ink on the water button... Mine says "W r" now. I didn't really notice until I read the other review and looked.

1 out of 5 stars Don't walk - Run away
Stuart Kuzminsky

When we remodeled our kitchen in 2006 we had the following criteria for our new refrigerator: counter depth, water dispenser in the door and ice maker (not necessarily in the door)After many hours of research, both online and at different stores we selected an LG French door model with freezer on the bottom. After it was installed we noticed that the temperature showed over 90 degrees, whereas the room was about 72 degrees. Also the water dispenser flowed very slowly. According to the manual you were supposed to pull out the unit and vacuum the back. Since the unit had just been installed we called support and they referred us to the authorized tech who came out to check it. He then told us that the fridge is designed to be free-standing in the room, not "pushed" in the space between the cabinets. And then the temperature gauge would function correctly. Note - the unit is NOT built-in. The water trickle from the dispenser was working as designed.About one year later, yes, right as the warranty had expired in 2007, a small, thumbnail sized plastic tab broke off the bottom wide drawer- almost $300.00 in parts and labor to replace. In September 2009, the plastic frame that holds the bottom glass shelf (over the two half size drawers) broke in the front left corner and it is now held together with duct tape. Two weeks later another tiny plastic part that holds the lid to the left most drawer. When it comes to the general construction and design of the drawers it is substandard and LG should be ashamed of themselves. The half drawers are designed for fruits and veggies, but if you put anything heavier than lettuce in them, they fall off the convoluted rails and you need an engineering degree to put them back in. In 2010, one of the veggie drawers completely broke into parts.Support and customer service assures us that we are the only ones ever complaining about this. Replacing plastic parts is `standard maintenance'. It seems the design of metal rails and bars in combination with tiny plastic tabs and attachments is a very bad combinationIf you put bottles weighing too much in the doors they do not close properly and you have to give them an extra forceful push. LG service and support has not provided any service, just excuses. Not 5 years after purchase, we are looking for the replacement, while the 20 year old GE in the garage is still whole. On a scale of 1-10 we put LG at about a minus 5- never fully functioning, insufficient materials design, and poor service satisfaction.ps. We are a couple in our 60s, not a wild group with teenagers running around. Read more ›

1 out of 5 stars Instead of LG, it should be called GL as in Good Luck.....
house4paws

OK, here I go using a statement I often see. If I could give this a minus star, I would.Buyer beware of a problem with LG's quality of the materials used for this unit. I'm hoping they have improved since 2011.I have replaced every door basket I. The fridge because they have all cracked and gone into pieces.I thought my problems were fixed after that, but the other day I noticed cracks developing on the actual walls of the fridge.I have an extended warranty, but I was told the cracks were cosmetic and not covered.I did some research to find that this isn't uncommon with LG. They know they have a problem, because they have a fix for it. They advise the repair person to use epoxy. As do the cracks aren't ugly enough, I'm going to have some guy slapepoxy over the cracks so it can look totally like a POS. Not really, plus there will probablybe more cracks to come. I am now pursuing the store that sold me this unit.

1 out of 5 stars Worst appliance nightmare
Anthony Mitchell

We have now received FOUR units in a row of this model in stainless steel over the past 15 months or so and the problems, all being manufacturing defects, have ranged from a warped cabinet/door, a unit that leaked an extensive amount of water on our kitchen's new hardwood floors that came from inside the refrigerator (not the water line or dispenser) and was a mystery that was never solved but caused severe floor damage, one had a broken compressor that made squealing/whistling noises on delivery but took months of service calls to diagnose and replace (was told it would've been about $800 if not under warranty...and this last one sounds like it's going out as well and will not maintain normal temperatures...just a few weeks into it), temperature and display controls that are broken upon delivery, one had rust on the stainless freezer door upon unpacking it, numerous cosmetic defects on delivery - esp with dispenser plastic, ice and water buildup in the freezer that had numerous repair calls but could never be resolved even after replacing the freezer door, and an annoying habit with one of the units going into defrost mode up to five times a day. When the units were working properly, it has the loudest compressor of any refrigerator I've ever heard. This has been the worst product I've ever purchased and KitchenAid (Whirlpool) has been an absolute pain to deal with, using stall tactics that would try anyone's patience. Please be aware this is very likely essentially the same refrigerator as the similar Jenn-Air, Whirlpool and Maytag counter-depth refrigerators, since Whirlpool makes them all.

1 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Poor Quality
Larry

I purchased two KitchenAid products when I re-did my Kitchen. I spend a lot of money and thought I was buying high quality products- an $800 dollar dishwasher and a $5,000 built in side by side refrigerator. The dishwasher broke down after 4 years -- $400 dollars repair. The refrigerator just broke down after 6 years and cost me $ 1,000,00 to repair. This is just not right. $5,000 dollar unit and I cannot get more than 6 years out of it. KitchenAid customer service was of no help and actually seemed like they had heard all of this before. I am stuck with this brand but you don't have to be. Buy a different brand. They do not deserve your business.

1 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy KitchenAid
Sara P Scullen

We bought this refrigerator with several other KitchenAid appliances. KitchenAid delivered a product with a burnt out electrical panel. It did not even work on the day of delivery. They refuse to replace it and insist on repairing it. To date, they have not repaired it and I am going on 3 weeks without a working refrigerator. Several years ago, KitchenAid did the same to us with a high end lemon of a dishwasher. Shame on me for thinking that KitchenAid is a reputable company that stands behind its products.

1 out of 5 stars Western Appliance and KitchenAid Very Poor Customer support
Linus W. Clingingsmith

Amazon is great. Purchase products all the time from them. However my wife and I purchased a brand new KitchenAid refrigerator from Western Appliance in August 2008. From the moment we got it, we've had problems. First the inside light malfunctioned, then the digital readout. The repairman has been here 4 times to try to repair it and now that all the parts have been replaced still has no idea what's wrong with it. The ice machine quit working on the third service call, and we have no ice.I have made numerous phone calls to Western Appliance, spoken to Leo, the salesperson, and the manager. They just tell me to call the Repairman. This Saturday will be the fifth visit by another repairman from a different service. We get the runn around when we ask for a replacement from western Appliance, repair service center and KitchenAid. Even though we purchased an extended warranty. I even called KitchenAid myself and was told that even if we purchased the warranty, it does not cover lemons or replacements.Their service is atrocious at best, and now that they have made a sale, we are virtually ignored or fobbed off. Worst of it is, the repair company under their contract has no idea what they're doing. This is the worst service I've ever encountered from an appliance store or manufacture. DO NOT BUY ANY APPLIANCES FROM WESTERN APPLIANCE or KITCHENAID. You will regret it if it should ever malfunction. It is now Novenber 2008 and I have NO LIGHTS, NO DIGITAL READOUT, AND NO ICE from my brand new KitchenAid refrigerator, and am waiting for a "second Opinion" from another repair co, while being ignored by Western Appliance.Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Fine for me!
April Sadowski

We got our model from Sears (and delivered to our house). We paid extra for the 5 year warranty (although the fridge has a 1 year warranty on most items, a 10 year warranty on more important items - I think the condenser is one) and a lifetime warranty on the shelves). We got ours at the beginning of this month. Everything has been working great. My husband had to make the line for the ice maker since our old refrigerator didn't have that or water. It worked like a charm. I really like the fast ice and max cool options. There is plenty of room on both sides for food and the side door in the refrigeration part has gallon-size openings which works well. You can also adjust the height. I like the can holder there too. It makes it easy to access. The filter is on the bottom which allows more room in the unit. This is a nice model. With anything you buy there could be a lemon so make sure you get more than one opinion! My parents have a Kitchenaid as well. It's made in USA which was a reason for me to buy and I like the stainless front (we have a non-stainless cabinet so the sides aren't stainless - that is was MS means but we don't mind because we can use magnets on it).

5 out of 5 stars Just as expected

We looked at many brands and loved the features on the Kitchen Aid. It has been zero problems from day one...Love the quick chill feature when you bring beverages home warm...Love it!

With only a year warranty, it's best to go extended if you can. It's been a fine refrigerator but now there's a brand new leak underneath the refrigerator. I had such a challenge buying it in the first place. Keep your receipts, whatever you do!

2 out of 5 stars Worse nightmare
Iccess

I had my Westinghouse side by side Model WWSS2601KW less then 2 years when it started to lightly smoke at 3 am releasing this horrid burning electronic/ plastic toxic odor. Freaking out I woke the family to help me figure out what to do, we knew it for coming from the fridge but, we were not sure till we opened both doors and the odor was x25 worse and the whitish smoke worsened in the kitchen after doing so. To make a long story short the coverage we had through a large retailer whom I will be nameless sent out a half witted mom and pop type of deal to look at the fridge and determined if it had to be replaced or fixed. Naturally REPLACE since it caught fire on the inside of the panels non-accessible to techs but, since they sent out a lazy moron to look it over he spent less then 7 min looking only inside it never one taking a tool to it to open anything up then reported back to the company nothing was wrong with the fridge then told various lies which I won't get into detail about. Leaving me with a fire risk fridge we cannot put food into or plug in, and gave the entire household migraines for 3 days due to the toxic fumes in the house. At this point I was furious already being without a fridge up to this point for 2 weeks. So I complain that how can this tech they sent out give you a determination the fridge is fine when he spent 7 min staring inside of it without EVER taking a tool to the fridge? So after speaking with the highest manager I could they informed me they will send out another tech from a different company but, if the fridge is NOT broke as the first tech claimed I would be flipping the bill. ( Seriously after I paid a grand for the fridge and another $169.99 for the protection plan?) This only made me more angry to threaten me as if I was the lair. So I have to wait ANOTHER week before a appt for a tech. 3 weeks now no fridge, tech shows up (a REAL tech) opens EVERYTHING he can unscrew see's burn marks coming out of base of fridge in the rear smells what I smelt and informs my retailer or it burning. ( WHEW finely someone who takes they job seriously ) here I am thinking finely a new fridge and this nightmare is over ... no not so fast its another week before they contact me informing me it I will receive credit back in the amount I paid to replace this fridge. Well gee whiz it's been a month no fridge ya think? But, it gets SO much better this fridge is no longer carried by the company ha and even if it WAS am not so sure I want a fridge burning my family to death in the middle of the night. So I have no choice but, to buy another brand / model that was similar to the Westinghouse fridge. Here's the fun part I have to pay OUT of my own pocket another $438.37 in edition the the credit back from the fridge. I got NO COMPENSATION what so ever for being called a LIAR and for the malpractice on the company's part for sending out a half wit the first time and wasting my family's time and DELAYING the correct actions for my fridge. I lost over $300.00 worth of food, had to live out of a ice chest for a month for a family of 3 suffered headaches because we could not get the toxic smell out of our home and the new fridge we had to pay MORE money for outta our pockets can't even be delivered for another week! It will be a total of 5 WEEKS without a fridge we STILL have the burnt Westinghouse sitting in our kitchen now because we yet to get the new fridge delivered! BOTTOM LINE if this fridge had NEVER caught fire to start with I would of NEVER gone through this, I have never EVER had a fridge catch fire! And I will never go Westinghouse again. If you OWN this model fridge PLEASE contact the company make sure there was no recall or prior issues of it catching fire or faulty parts putting your family and pets at risk of a fire is NOT worse keeping that death trap in your home. 5 out of 5 stars Fantastic value!!
Efcinc

This is a solid large capacity (26 cf) refrigerator with no silly things like digital controls, computers etc. No nonsense unit has water and ice cubes in freezer door. Large shelves in ref. door for milk jugs which frees up room on main shelves. No fingerprints door surfaces. A great value. We couldn't find a better refrigerator for the money.

5 out of 5 stars Great refrigerator with no problems since I've had it
Christian Chavez

I've inherited this fridge in early 2011. I don't know where it came from or how old it is, but I do know it's solid. On it's third year and I've had zero issues with it!

4 out of 5 stars Great fridge for a small family
W. Dietrich

I purchased this fridge based on its dimensions. My house's setup limits my fridge choices and this was one of the only models that fit in the cut out in my kitchen. I have had the fridge for quite some time with no major issues. Here's some pros and cons to help with your purchase:Pros:Adjustable glass shelving that is easy to cleanAmple door capacity for larger itemsPUR filtration systemThe filtration system will let you know when its time to change the filterColdness settings for both the cooler and freezerDoor dispenser includes functions for crushed/cubed ice, lock/unlock for dispenser and a door lightHumidity levels for the crisperGood size freezer, though the ice maker takes up some spaceCons:Ice dispenser jamsThe pullout shelves are cheaply made and may crack with too much force. They are often difficult to pull out and push in.Freezer is what cools the fridge. There are vents leading from the Freezer side to cool the fridge.Space behind the lower shelves - I have had to pull out the shelves to get whatever dropped back there.Difficult to clean the dust/animal hair underneath the fridge.

The product and design, and size are just what we wanted, but it arrrived with a small puncture mark on the stainless steel door. We are working to resolve this - hopefully with a replacement door.

1 out of 5 stars Terrible Customer Service, out $1,300
Schmidt

We received a fridge from this vendor that has the specifications that were listed, however, when it runs it makes a loud screeching noise that we can hear throughout our entire home. It is evident to anyone hears that that it's a defective products. We have had an open ticket with Summit for three weeks have received no help and have even had a technician come to our house to confirm but it is a defective product. Every time we call we are given attitude and no help. They have thought of 1 million excuses, including this technician we had come into our home, to not let us return the product. They are also making false claims saying the technician said the fridge was fine when the report clearly states it isn't. I am a very reasonable consumer and only expect that a company stands beside the product - at this point my husband and I are stuck with a $1300 fridge that makes a super loud noise that wakes us up so we cannot keep in our home nor return it. IF YOU VALUE THE OPTION OF RETURNING AN ITEM AS WELL AS CUSTOMER SERVICE, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

5 out of 5 stars Only a week now, but really impressed
Dan

We had this side by side Whirpool Gold for 8 years and we mistakenly taught it to be a good purchase. When it broke last May, we found that the parts in the compressor compartment were attached with tie-wraps and Sears service were not even able to fix it anymore (because the fridge was cheaply made but also because they are really incompetent). So when the Sears tech mentioned that KitchenAid has better warranty and after the third unsuccessful repair we decided to replace the Whirpool crap, we went to look for a KitchenAid. But then we learned that they are all made by Whirpool: KitcheAid, Maytag, and some others too. They all look the same, they all have this stupid water dispenser that you have to keep the door open to use it and they are all the same questionable quality as our old fridge. We finally decided for the Samsung and so far we are very happy with our decision. Even in the store it was standing away from all the others and it was making a huge impression as a product of a different clas.. We have it only for a week now, so there is no reliability proof yet, but quality wise, you can feed the difference immediatelly. Great finish, quiet, everything works pefeect, and the electronic controls are just great. Everything looks like it was well thaught and designed. Nothing was neglected. Not talking about you having 25.5 cu.ft. where all the other brands have only 22 cu.ft.

5 out of 5 stars Best Fridge I've ever owned
CPABookLover

I purchased this fridge in Dec 2012. It's very easy to clean the inside. The crispers keep my fruits and veggies fresh MUCH longer than my old Amana did and it was only 8 years old. It holds ALOT of food. The doors hold many condiments too. I like being able to open just one side of the fridge. My family loves the middle drawer. It minimizes the whole fridge opening. I keep cheese, soda and sparkling water and yogurt in the drawer. It is really handy. The freezer has two compartments on the bottom and then a slim drawer on top. These compartments make it really easy to organize your freezer. I read alot of reviews before I purchased this item. The biggest, most consistent complaint was the ice maker. I have to agree that the ice maker is noisy when the fresh ice empties into the compartment. Also, there isn't a lot of ice. This isn't an issue for our family since we don't use lots of ice. If we are having a party, we always go out and buy ice, even when we had our old refrigerator. But if lots of ice is a big deal to you, you won't like this fridge. I get loads of compliments on the looks of the fridge too.

We went through about 6 months of searching for a fridge to fit our small kitchen. Our wish list was:Must haves:* Be no more than 33inches wide* Be no more than 70 inches tallWould like:* French Doors* Available in white* Water/Ice dispenser that accommodates a 9in high Keurig style water container* 4 doors* All LED and best in power saving featuresWhat we found "finally" !!!! was the Samsung RF4267HAWP.And we just love it! All of our friends love it too.. I always catch guests playing with it and opening doors and just staring at it. Our sons friends call it the star-trek fridge.. lolWe have had it 3 years now and have NEVER had a single problem with it.However we don't have hard water here, and we don't have it cranked to maximum cool or anything.I would suspect many people don't realize that hard water can cause a mirade of problems with water lines coming into a fridge.Maintenance people.. maintenance!!We love our fridge.

1 out of 5 stars Problems with Samsung refrigerators
amazonman288

I own an RF267 Samsung fridge. I highly suggest you search online about problems with Samsung refrigerators that are only 2-3 years old. Ours is leaking water. Our in-laws are having the same problem with their Samsung refrigerator. I suggest you do some research before buying a Samsung refrigerator.

1 out of 5 stars DONT not event consider!!!
very pickey

I had one of these replaced within the first 10 days,,, the 2nd one lasted 2 months,, I now have 3rd one after the year,, the icemaker on this one doesnt work any better than the first one,, Samsung customer support takes the attitude,, just replace it till it out of warranty and they are done with you... I would NEVER consider another samsung unit again! Stay clear of the this product and the company.

4 out of 5 stars good looking

This refrigerator is stylish, but lacking a few things inside -- e.g.: no butter keeper, no egg tray. Had fridge for a few weeks, so far no problems. Although ice maker is noisy. BUT BEWARE! Samsung's customer service is a disgrace. They do not answer e-mail questions, and chat sessions and phone calls get you no place. The agents do not understand problems and cannot provide solutions. For example, there is a thin rubber strip attached underneath the refrigerator, in the center, that runs from front to back, and it touches the floor. I asked an agent what it was and why it was there, and he told me to send him a picture of the part I was talking about. At first he did not know the difference between interior and exterior, and I had to explain that underneath meant exterior. I said I'd have to tilt the 400-lb. refrigerator on its back to take a picture of the underside of it, which I could not do, and again he said he'd need a photograph. He would not put me through to a designer or a technician or an engineer, and he said someone would email me. Still waiting after several weeks. Also the customer service people do not have a clue as to what the various abbreviations in the manual stand for. Asking for Samsung help is useless. Their agents are imbeciles.

5 out of 5 stars I Love It!!!!
Kim

I have been wanting a fridge with the pull out freezer. We have had this for just over a month now and are VERY happy with it. A lot of storage in the refridgerator area. We have a deep freezer so the smaller freezer on this doesn't affect us. All you hear with this is the ice maker dropping ice and filling back up. Outside of that, which doesn't bother me in the least, is all you hear from this fridge.

So far (1 month) the refrigerator has been great. It is quiet, easy to use and fairly resistant to fingermarks.

1 out of 5 stars Poorly Designed, Doesn't Work
S. WIlliams

We purchased this from an outside vendor, at the same price currently offered here, to replace a similar Sam's Club unit (unfortunately, it's no longer made) we'd had and used regularly for over a decade, before it finally gave up the ghost. Sadly, though they looked roughly similar, these round, plug-in fridges/coolers were nothing alike.First, the temperature control for this is UNDER the unit. Non-inituitive, clumsy and very poor design. You have to lay on the ground and reach under to turn it on and off or up and down. Dumb. The half-missing (on our) unit sticker that lists the temperature in stick-figure form is also definitely less than helpful.Second, unlike our far less expensive older unit, which was near silent, this thing is NOISY. A loud, blowing fan runs constantly when it's on, even at the lowest setting. Not ear-shattering, but not the kind of thing you could have sitting with you in a quiet room. It sounds a lot like our range hood vent on low, to give you a better idea. Annoying and intrusive.Third, though it's listed as a "party cooler," there are all sorts of dire warnings in the instructions about operating it any environment over 80 degrees. Which means, they don't want you to use it outside. (Something we regularly did with our old unit and something I bet many/most people would buy this for.) And though the advertisements say that it's filled with some sort of substance that retains the cold for up to six hours when NOT plugged in. The manual mentions nothing about this and we saw no cooling/insulating properties with this thing at all.The interior features a large metal "cage" that is attached to the lid by S-hooks. It's all kinds of awkward and stilted and our old unit (hate to harp, but it was just so much better) was just a large open cavity and, frankly, that made it much more functional. Also, with the lid attached as directed, opening and closing it is quite a challenge. It kind of "snaps back" out of your hand and won't open fully to allow you to easily reach in and grab something. More bad design. And, as a special bonus, the plastic half-lid pieces fell out of the rubber lining four or five times each just putting the darn thing together the first time, resulting in a long and painful (as in, cutting yourself on the sharp plastic) reassembly process where you have to carefully thread the plastic back into the rubber grooves, where it instantly pops out one side just as you get the other in, so you have to start all over again. Arghhh!Lastly, and most distressingly, the dang thing flat out didn't work. In prep for a BBQ the next day we filled it up with drinks and plugged it in. It started up right away--with its obnoxious whir--and we promptly moved it into another room to let it do it's thing ... Or so we thought. Roughly 12 hours later we came back to find the drinks were still room temperature. (See photo attached of interior temp after 12 hours turned on.) We played and we poked and we restarted, and moved the temp control dial every which way and the most we could get was a soft blow of cool air from the bottom middle of the unit. After several hours with no results we ran out and bought coolers and ice. Major, major fail.We tried to contact Vinotemp directly and never heard anything back after a week of emails and phone calls. Returning this huge thing was a major PITA and we're still fighting to get a refund, rather than a replacement from the company we purchased from. Save yourself a headache and look elsewhere. 1 out of 5 stars but now it doesn't consistently cool or freeze
orlobo

Do not buy this model or brand. It has always made loud popping sounds, but now it doesn't consistently cool or freeze. Last week it started making a loud motor sound which is apparently a fan that has ice on it. The repairman said it was a design problem and it will take until 7/31 for the part to come. After looking it up today, I find there are many complaints all over the web about cooling/freezing problems, sometimes accompanied by a fan noise, with a variety of their models. It isn't just this one...but it is definitely a problem with this one. Because of what I've also seen regarding unsatisfactory customer service, continued sales of a product with a known problem and high repair bills when out of warranty, I would say that any product made by Samsung is suspect. I will never buy their products again.

2 out of 5 stars Not working out of the box
SRQConsumer

I purchased this product because of ratings in Consumer Reports and because of the Samsung brand name. The French Door refrigerator was installed yesterday by two guys from Lowe's. One a trainee, the other berating the trainee. They said there might be "water on the floor". If so call them back. They said the icemaker will make ice in 12 hours. OK.24 hours later, the icemaker was still not making ice. We pulled the refrig out from the wall, there was a kink in the line. We thought that fixed the problem. Nope. We hit the reset button for 8 seconds. The "Icemaker" light is supposed to go dark. It didnt. Also, the electronic display is supposed to be 0 degrees. But it's "frozen" on -8 degrees. Called Samsung. Service people were very nice and set me up with a local "repair guy" who is coming out tomorrow to see what the problem is.Bottom line is, this supposedly well rated French Door refrig. is not performing according to the manufacturer's reputation. I'm not thrilled with what I'm experiencing with this product.

I ordered a set of stainless steel Samsung appliances from Home Depot. What a mistake! Two of the four appliances do not work. The freezer door on the refrigerator broke after two weeks. I woke up Sunday morning to find water all over my kitchen floor and the food in my freezer unthawed. The dishwasher doesn't clean the dishes. My 13 year old Kenmore cleaned ten times better. It leaves food on all my dishes and glasses. I have to clean my dishes by hand and use the dishwasher as a drying rack. What about Samsung customer service, you might ask? The absolute worst customer service I have ever dealt with from any company in my life. For starters, they tried to make an appointment with a company that no longer services Samsung products. If I had not followed up with the service company, I would still be waiting for a phone call. They do not take Samsung tickets, but Samsung competence did not realize this. This was only my beginning with customer service. Promised follow up phone calls from Samsung, never happened. I will stop here before this becomes a book. I will just say that I will be without a freezer for at least two weeks, and it will be three weeks before they look at my dishwasher. My advice, keep away from all Samsung products at all cost, and as for Home Depot, I received very little help. In the future, I will give all my business to Lowes or Menards.
